I'm back with another DIY spa treatment, Coconut Lime Sugar Scrub. You can use it from lips to feet and everywhere in between. It will leave your skin exfoliated and moisturized. Plus a chance to win your own jar of Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut oil

WHAT YOU NEED

  • A bowl and spoon for mixing
  • Sugar, you can use plain table sugar or sugar in the raw if you want a grittier texture
  • Line zest
  • Coconut  oil (I used Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil I find compared to other coconut oils this has a nice coconut sent to it that other coconut oils don't)

WHAT TO DO

  1.  Zest your lime into your bowl
  2. Mix in about 2 tablespoons of coconut oil and 4 tablespoons of sugar (it's usually about a 2 to 1 ratio) if the mixture is a bit soupy add another 1-2 tablespoons of sugar
  3. Use the scrub! It can be used on the lips, elbows, feet anywhere you have dry skin.
If you use it as a foot scrub I recommend soaking your feet in warm water fro 10 minutes and the use the scrub.   It will lever your feet supper soft and moisturized.

Thanks for sharing.
I love to make coconut bark. Lots of recipes for it, with so many variations. I just mix in chocolate, cocoa, coconut shreds, etc.

Ohh that sounds good! I think I'll go look some up. That would be a good thing to add to my Christmas cookie platters.
I mostly cook with coconut oil, but I also have used in in deodorant and toothpaste recipes.

Coconut oil in a deodorant recipe I'm intrigued.
I use a dollop of coconut oil in our morning smoothies and use it straight, as is, for a light deodorant after a shower. I also use coconut oil to "pull" as a teeth cleaner.

How exactly do you use coconut oil as a deodorant? your the second person to mention it.
I just use a cloth to put it on my underarms. I really only this in the evenings after a shower. It works well when it's not too hot, I'm inside, or not too stressful. For daytime in the heat (I live in the south!) I use something stronger.
oh thanks! I think I'm going to have to try that out.
Coconut oil makes a nice heavy duty moisturizer, too. I use it on my feet sometimes with a pair of sox. they say it;s great as a body or face cream, but it's a little too heavy duty for me. I've read recipes for scenting and adding essential oils but haven't tried it, yet.
